Ten Minutes: Intro and First Entry

A friend of mine has begun a fun challenge or project to help keep her skills and love for visual art alive. She and a friend each draw for ten minutes (at the minimum) before 10pm every day. They post their work on Instagram with a joint account called "@10minuteclub".

I think I want to "join" the club but with the discipline of writing. Ten minutes is not daunting and unpolished sketches seem to be par for the exercise. (Anything to end the drought.)

I feel an expanding sadness that's laced with weary anger. I'm frustrated by a tense situation. In the last month I've noticed a muscle or tendon on the left side of my neck that experiences sharp pain when I feel hurt by someone dear. It's the kind of hurt that I can't blunt or mitigate with other knowledge or considerations, and so it just sits and presses rottenly on my heart.

I hate feeling those pangs in the side of my neck. I hate feeling hurt by people I love and who love me. Life is hard.

It's not insurmountable and I'm not being passive. But while we wade, I'm sad and it hurts.
