Romans 4:12

"And he [Abraham] is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised."

With its context (4:1-11 is good but starting at 3:21 or 3:9 helps) this is what makes me understand the Catholic-Christian. I mean, this is where God permits religiousness. This is how you can be devoted (devout?) to (in?) ritual and traditional ways but still indeed be the on-fire, deeply-in-love-with-Christ follower at the same time. They're compatible -- who knew?
