·from nobility
·a young man without any physical defect
·handsome
·showing aptitude for every kind of learning
·well informed
·learned in the language and literature of the king's nation
·regularly fed the king's choice food and wine, or
·trained for three years for this post
BUT
somehow I could still be fit for the king's service.
Yes, I realise Nebuchadnezzar is quite a different king, it's quite a different situation. But I like my King better. And He's better. And He can demand the most--can have the strictest requirements for His servants--and yet... I may be fit.
New Covenantites, I daresay we're fit for the king's service, thoroughly imperfect and unimpressive though we may be. I guess that is a thing.
